The hamlets of Marsa
In the Middle Ages, the population of the Marsa Basin was broken up into a large number of small villages and hamlets, a structure inherited from Carolingian times.
Most of these small settlements lasted until the 15th century, some having parish ranks like Boulude.
They disappeared in the turmoil of the Middle Ages: Coudersi, Touzeil, Castelpor.
From Boulude there are only a few sections of walls of his church and the village invaded today by the vegetation and the forest.
From Castelpor, there are only a few sections of walls of the original castrum. Castelpor will change its name to Taffin.
Other hamlets are born as Chalabrette, Bac, the Métairies.
Chalabrette was inhabited until the mid-twentieth century. All that remains today are only ruined houses.
Today, the Métairies Labau are still inhabited.
The hamlet Le Bac will become Les Massols, now operated by Eve and Anthony Thion.
Castelpor Taffine Hamlet
Originally the hamlet of Taffine was the castrum of the village of Marsa: Castelpor.
It is located at the foot of this stronghold which, during the 13th century, participated in the resistance to Simon de Montfort's troops during the Albigensian Crusade.
Today, from the castrum there are only a few sections of walls left.
A family named Taffine has in the course of time settled in this hamlet which bears its name today.
